Already I have Stirling engine with piston and displacer shifted by 90 degree. There rotation depends on temperature difference, if placed on cup with hot water it turns in one defined direction, if placed on ice cubes then turns in opposite direction. As seen from the picture the construction is more complicated. The newly bought blue color Stirling engine achieves delayed displacer movement by magnet. So construction is simpler and thus price lower. Also, the simplified Stirling engine with magnet will not start by itself - the movement direction depends on first manual impulz. I am using both Stirling engines to educate my grandchildren. I am happy having them both. In my opinion the previous one has a greater educational value. I like the product, it looks beautiful, uses quality material, and indeed is a good value for money - I would recommend it.

This sterling engine arrived in good working order. Checked it out and made a few tweeks here and there. Oiled all moving parts except the piston with very light sewing machine oil. ( just the smallest amount on the tip of a tooth pick ) Placed it on my ethernet router and has been running ever since. Note: It would not run for very long the first few times I tried. I later found out it runs one way for a hot surface and runs the the other way for a cold surface. I was kick starting it in the wrong direction! IF sitting on a HOT surface, and oriented like this photo, Flywheel in back, it will spin counter clockwise. I really like this engine and would recommend this to a nerdy friend! LOL
